Activated nuts are raw organic nuts that undergo a traditional two-stage fermentation process. They are soaked in spring water and sea salt brine to initiate germination, which breaks down phytic acid and enzyme inhibitors. Then they are gently dried at low temperatures. This process reduces anti-nutrients, improves digestibility, increases nutrient bioavailability, and creates a unique umami flavour with a perfect crunch. 2DiE4 Live Foods pioneered this process in 2004 and handcrafts all products at their facility in Königsdorf, Bavaria.

Why are activated nuts better than raw or roasted nuts?

Raw nuts contain phytic acid, which binds minerals like iron, zinc, and calcium, making them less available to your body. Roasting destroys heat-sensitive nutrients and beneficial enzymes. Activation through fermentation is the gentle alternative: it reduces phytic acid by up to 60%, preserves all vitamins and enzymes, increases protein digestibility, supports gut health through fermentation byproducts, and maintains raw food quality. The result is a nut that tastes better, crunches better, and nourishes better than both raw and roasted alternatives.

How are 2DiE4 activated nuts made?

2DiE4 activated nuts are handcrafted at Gut Mooseurach in Königsdorf, Bavaria, using a proprietary two-stage fermentation process developed since 2004. Stage one: raw organic nuts are soaked in a carefully balanced solution of spring water and Croatian and Celtic sea salt for 12-24 hours, initiating germination. Stage two: the nuts are gently dried at temperatures below 42°C to preserve raw food quality. The entire process takes 2-3 days per batch. All nuts are DE-ÖKO-003 certified organic, vegan, and free from additives, preservatives, and added sugars.
