Why buy "Activated Nuts"? The 2DiE4 difference

Regular supermarket nuts often have a bitter aftertaste and feel heavy on the stomach. The reason lies in natural protective compounds such as phytic acid and enzyme inhibitors. At 2die4 Live Foods we take a different approach. We “wake up” the nut.

What happens during activation? Our process is inspired by the traditions of the Aboriginal and Aztec cultures.

  1. Two stage fermentation: The nuts soak for hours in a brine made from fresh water and pure sea salt. This initiates the germination process, the fermentation.
  2. Reduction of inhibitors: Soaking breaks down phytic acid. This is essential because phytic acid can block the absorption of key minerals such as zinc, iron and magnesium in the gut.
  3. Gentle drying: Instead of roasting at high heat, we dry our nuts for up to four days at temperatures below 64°C. This preserves enzymes and heat sensitive vitamins.
